THE Windhoek council has reconnected water and electricity services at Kingsway Plaza, the city’s spokesperson Harold Akwenye has said.
On Monday, hairdressers and barbers, who are tenants at the complex, marched to the office of the property’s owner, Stina Wu.
The hairstylists complained that the issue, which has been ongoing for the past two years, is interfering with their operations.
Akwenye said the complex owes N$254 610 in rates and taxes, with nearly N$90 000 paid on Monday.
“Amounts of N$40 730,69 and N$48 285,51 were paid into the account and reconnection notice was received at the contact centre from Redforce,” he said.
The president of the Namibian Hairdressers’ Association, Pujesu Namundjebo, said they are happy that all the services are back, and they are working as usual.
“Everything is back, and we are happy, but we are still asking for proper communication between the tenants and the management,” he said.
During the engagement with the hairdressers on Monday, Wu assured the tenants that her company would take up the matter and find solutions.
“You will have contact details for the property management, and we will discuss with our shareholders to see how we can recover the damage,” she said.
