A WINDHOEK lawyer has been arrested after he allegedly assaulted the mother of his child on Thursday.
The police have confirmed the arrest and said the lawyer is charged with three counts.
Khomas police spokesperson warrant officer Silas Shipandeni said he is charged with assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm, malicious damage to property and assault by threat.
Shipandeni said the lawyer is in custody and is expected to appear in court on Friday.
According to a source, the complainant is a lecturer at one of the universities in Windhoek.
“She is receiving medical attention at the moment, and she is apparently fearing for her life because he told her if she leaves him he will hurt her even more,” the source said.
