Water pump thieves strike again in Kavango West


THE theft of water pump components continues to leave communities in the Kavango West without water to drink after four sets of water pump elements were stolen last week in Kapako constituency.

According to the police media liaison officer, inspector Raimbert Muronga, between Tuesday and Wednesday last week, four sets of components were stolen at Karoo, Pusa, Casa and Mbore villages in Kapako.

Muronga said that unknown suspects broke the metal covers of each community water pump and stole the parts at each of the pumps that belong to the Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Land Reform.

He said the stolen pumps consisted of four Grundfos, four core cables, four safety ropes class 10, four pipes and four base plates, all valued at N$48 314 per pump.

All four water pumps were valued at N$193 256.
