The Northern Regional Electricity Distributor (Nored) has announced an electricity tariff increase of 7,6% effective from 1 September.
The adjustment comes after the Electricity Control Board granted an increase in the bulk electricity tariff recently.
Nored spokesperson Simon Lukas noted in a press release that the increment is primarily due to the average increase in the bulk electricity tariff granted to the national utility, effective from 1 July.
“Nored is cognisant of the economic situation and the impact of electricity cost on our customers. However, the tariff adjustment is granted to ensure continued supply and distribution of a reliable, affordable, and high quality of electricity supply to our customers during these challenging times,” he said.
He added that pre-paid customers will only feel the impact of the change from 26 September.
