NamPower apologises for power outage

NAMPOWER has apologised for a power outage that affected the central, coastal and northern parts of Namibia this afternoon.

Residents and even the City of Windhoek were left scratching their heads after what appeared to be the scourge of loadshedding hit Namibia.

The national power utility confirmed that the partial system outage was a result of a trip on the 400kV Kokerboom-Auas line that resulted in a partial system collapse.

“Power supply has completely been restored to all the affected areas. NamPower apologises to its customers and the public for any inconvenience the outage may have caused,” NamPower said in a statement.

Shortly after the outage, City of Windhoek spokesperson Harold Akwenye said they were trying to find out which substation tripped as some parts of the city’s power had gone off.
