THE executive director of information and communication technology Audrin Mathe says Namibia has experienced an interruption to the .na domain.
In a media statement on Tuesday, Mathe stated that the crash affected all domains ending with .na whether private or public.
“While we know that Namibia has been under constant attack from hackers worldwide, this glitch is not one of them. By lunch hour today, all routine upgrades on the system server of the .na domain were completed,” Mathe said.
According to Mathe the glitch only affected the routing of data traffic.
“There was no breach of any other platform. The government, through the Communications Regulatory Authority of Namibia (Cran), is in contact with the registrar of the .na domain to ensure that any possible harm is detected soonest,” he said.
He added that affected parties should report any suspicious activities to Cran.
“Namibia’s cybersecurity remains one of the best in the world,” Mathe added.
