Namibian bangers for the upcoming summer

[ad_1]

DECEMBER is around the corner and the race is on for the song that will capture us all the most. We’ve kept our ears to the ground and have come up with hits we think will carry us to the end of the year (in no particular order).

Young T – ‘I Can’t Forget’

One of Namibia’s greatest lyricists dropped this feel good track just last week. His sound is so comforting and the words he delivers are truly like poetry.

Showtime 837 – ‘Mililo’

The way the rapper has manipulated his voice into a deep thunderous bass, with which he delivers his bars is astounding. It’s hip-hop re-imagined, chopped up and carefully reassembled in a way that will have you rocking your head uncontrollably.

Chester Houseprince – ‘Bacardi’ featuring Mega and DJ Spuzza

It’s hard to get this song out of my head. Every time I hear it, I just have to sing along. No wonder it’s trending and any time you utter “on a bus to…”, people know they should belt out “…Fungurani!”

Chris Wayne, Don Kamati and DJ Oros – ‘Banker’

This new track deserves a spot on this list just for capturing my attention from the very first listen. I don’t hear a lot of purely Afropop songs these days with the way Amapiano has bulldozed every single genre.

Kakia – ‘Your Song’

This girl just dropped a lovely EP called ‘Coming Down’ with four fire tracks, but this one is my fave because of how vulnerable the artist comes across on it.

DJ Dreas – ‘Unona Wa’

The more I listen to this song, the more elements I pick up and the more impressed I get. Not only is this boy pushing a uniquely Namibian sound, but he’s also incorporating so many elements to give it an international flavour.

Yeezir and Ms Gideon – ‘Pretty Vibes’

Pretty Vibes has practically taken over social media and the airwaves. Anywhere you go you’ll hear these two infatuated singers pledging their love and loyalty to each other. It’s a heartwarming ballad and an irresistible dance tune .

Tswazis – ‘Ae Tog’

The bass is hard and the melodies are uplifting. This song is such a feel good tune that you’ll get into a chirpy mood. The Khoekhoegowab serenading duo’s song is a fun blend of house music, Damara punch and Afropop.

Lioness – ‘Gratitude’ featuring Page

This pairing is like watching a crossover episode of two epic sitcoms, and seeing your faves come together, far exceeding expectations. This is what happens when you put an internationally certified rapper and the king crooner himself in the studio together.
