A 45-YEAR-OLD man killed for allegedly having an affair with another man’s wife at Usivi village in Mashare was on a restraining order from the Sambyu traditional authority to stay away from the couple’s homestead a month before his death.

Daniel Kasimbombo (45) died last Wednesday after he was stabbed with an Okapi pocket knife at Usivi village.

The chairperson of the Mashare village development committee, Markus Mushonga, told The Namibian yesterday that the late Kasimbombo, together with the accused and his wife, attended a traditional hearing last month in which the deceased was ordered to stay away from the couple’s house.

The late Kasimbombo had been going to the couple’s house whenever the accused was at work, and the alleged affair had been going on since 2019, said Mushonga.

Upon learning of the affair, the accused then reported the matter to the traditional authority, which later ordered the deceased to pay damages to the accused person.

β€œThe husband told us he’s been seeing his children at the bar every morning, and he has been giving the wife money without knowing if she was buying the children food. He also said he saw his children crying for him every time he passed by the bar,” Mushonga said.

He said the traditional court had asked the deceased to movewith all his belongings from where he was staying since he was staying in his mother-in-law’s house, a few metres from the couple’s house. At the same time, the accused also suggested his wife move out of their home for some time after she was caught cheating.

However, Joseph Kalihonda (50) later requested the traditional authorities for permission to take back his wife despite her infidelity, he said.

It is alleged that the accused overheard his wife speaking to Kasimbombo, inviting him to their house when the husband goes to work.

The couple has two kids together.

Kalihonda made his first court appearance in the Rundu Magistrate’s Court on Monday, where he appeared before magistrate Sonia Sampofu. hw did not get bail due to the seriousness of the offence, and for investigations to be concluded.

His case was postponed to 11 January 2023.
