Miss Earth Namibia 2022 Diana Andimba on Friday left the country to participate in the Miss Earth 2022 pageant in the Philippines.

Andimba is the Miss Namibia second runner-up this year and was announced as Miss Earth Namibia in September.

Andimba (24) is an aspiring chef and architect in training from Windhoek.

The Miss Earth pageant is being held for the 22nd time, and is taking place on 29 November at the Okada Manila resort casino in Parañaque, in the Manila area of the Philippines.

Destiny Wagner of Belize will crown her successor at the end of the event.

It will be Miss Earth’s first live competition since 2019.

The pageant is an international event to promote environmental awareness. The winner of Miss Earth will serve as an ambassador on environmental protection campaigns worldwide.

Ninety-one delegates will compete for the title.

Andimba said she is looking forward to representing and showcasing Namibia in the Philippines.

“So far it has been such an experience for me. I will come back home on 1 December, but if I manage to win the title then I will stay longer there,” she said.

“My preparations for the pageant thus far have been hectic. I have to admit that I did not have enough time to do everything I wanted to, but I will manage. I have a great team,” she said.

Besides the pageant, Andimba said she is looking forward to travelling to the Philippines.

She said she enjoys travelling and has visited 13 countries already.

“Due to Covid-19 I did not have the chance to travel. So, I am glad that I am able to do that again. I am so excited to showcase my country to others,” Andimba said.
