A 32-year-old man drowned in a sewage drain in the Greenwell Matongo area of Windhoek on Saturday.
Namibian Police spokesperson warrant officer Silas Shipandeni on Sunday said the man was an employee of the close corporation MJ Engineering and that he and three colleagues were unblocking the drain when the incident happened.
Shipandeni said the man entered the drain to unplug a pipe inside before he informed his colleagues he was losing strength.
“The deceased fell in the water. The drain was filled with water and the colleagues couldn’t do anything to help,” Shipandeni said.
He added that the man’s next of kin have not yet been informed of his death.
