Geingob salutes Angolan leaders Neto, Dos Santos

President Hage Geingob says Namibia owes Angola’s former presidents Agostinho Neto and José Eduardo dos Santos and Angola itself a debt of gratitude for their roles in the liberation struggle.

Geingob has posted this on his social media pages.

The president is currently in Angola to attend the inauguration of re-elected Angolan president João Lourenço and has paid tribute to Dos Santos, who died in Spain in July and was buried in Luanda near the end of August.

“Namibia and Angola are one. Today I paid tribute to former president José Eduardo dos Santos by laying a wreath in his honour at memorial Antonio Agostinho Neto in Luanda,” Geingob stated.

The president is expected to travel to the United Kingdom for the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II on Monday, and thereafter will head to New York in the United States to participate in the United Nations General Assembly’s 77th session.
