A Windhoek lawyer who was arrested on Thursday over alleged gender-based violence has been released after the complainant dropped the charges.
Khomas police spokesperson warrant officer Silas Shipandeni said the lawyer was released on Friday.
He said the complainant, who is the mother of the lawyer’s child, dropped the charges she had laid against him before he could appear in court.
“If a complainant drops the charges then it means we have to release the suspect, unless the Office of the Prosecutor General decides otherwise. He is released,” Shipandeni said.
