Former Miss Namibia finalist launches make-up company in Dubai

MAKE-UP artist and media personality Prisca Anyolo recently launched her own make-up company, called Prisca Beauty, in Dubai.

Anyolo has obtained an honours degree in journalism and media technology from the Namibia University of Science and Technology. She is a beauty enthusiast.

She was one of the top-12 finalists of Miss Namibia 2021.

Anyolo played the role of Isola in the movie ‘Katutura’.

She is also a former radio presenter at Nust FM, and television presenter at Namibia Media Holdings.

Anyolo went to the United Arab Emirates as a business and sales consultant with German development agency GIZ Namibia and the Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board, representing the ‘Land of the Brave’ at Expo 2020 Dubai.

She was subsequently hired as a television presenter and media and marketing manager at a TV station in Dubai.

After this, she stepped back into her marketing role at Orit Entertainment, where she is currently freelancing.

Anyolo launched her make-up business recently, because she felt it was finally the right time.

“I decided to register my own company in Dubai, because I knew it was time for me to be my own CEO again and to continue where I left off after moving out of Africa. I love doing make-up, because it’s a space in which I feel safe, content and fulfilled.

“Having a brush in my hand is like waving a magic wand, and I get to immerse myself in the exciting world of creative art, beauty and imagination.

“The public should expect the unexpected of me. I have just opened the company, so this is only the beginning,” she says.

Anyolo at the end of last year added another milestone to her achievement list – she did first lady of Namibia Monica Geingos’ make-up for an event.

She says the opportunity arose when Geingos’ office contacted her.

“It was during Expo 2020, as the Namibian pavillion was celebrating its national day. I have done her make-up exactly four times to date, and she has loved each look.

“The first lady is a naturally beautiful woman, so the natural make-up I applied only enhanced her already gorgeous features. There are times when I was a little adventurous and added more colour and sparkle to her eyes, which blended in perfectly and produced an amazing, yet subtle look,” she says.

Anyolo says constantly learning has greatly contributed to her success.

“I never stop learning. I entered this industry in 2017 and continue attending professional classes. Thus far, I have trained in South Africa and Nigeria.

“It’s important to upgrade my skills every now and then. I plan gaining more experience from different revered make-up artists around the world, because the aim is to keep getting better and better,” she says.

Anyolo is thrilled about the growth in the make-up industry.

“It is great if people are able to do their own make-up, but having your make-up done by a professional is an excellent way of investing in high-quality application, brands, products, technique and skill, which have taken years to perfect,” she says.
