Erongo police power-up for holidays

THE capacity of the police in the Erongo region was recently boosted, with more officers and more vehicles powering up the force’s presence and capabilities required for a jam-packed holiday community and activity at the coast.

Twenty police officers from the Special Reserve Force were last week deployed to Swakopmund to cater to the influx of people and ensure the safety of the residents and holidaymakers over the festive season.

The Municipality of Swakopmund is sponsoring their food and accommodation.

The manpower increase comes shortly after Rössing Uranium handed over seven Namibian Police vehicles the mine repaired at a cost of N$350 000.

The mine offered to assist the police force with major service, mechanical repairs and body works on the vehicles belonging to the Walvis Bay, Swakopmund, Arandis and Karibib stations.

The Namibian understands four more vehicles will be serviced, bringing the total number of vehicles serviced by the mine to 11.
