OMUSATI governor Erginus Endjala was involved in a car accident on Saturday afternoon, the Oshana police has confirmed.
The accident happened along the Oshakati-Oshikuku road.
According to Oshana police regional commander commissioner Naftal Sakaria, Endjala’s Mercedes Benz collided head-on with a taxi at Emono village in Oshana region.
He added that minor injuries have been reported, but the governor is not among the injured.
Sakaria said a case of negligent driving has been opened but he did not disclose who the case is against.
He said sworn statements are still pending.
Contacted by The Namibian for comment on Monday afternoon, Endjala said: ““I am okay. By the grace of God, I am not harmed. We are okay.”
In May 2020, Endjala survived a car accident between Okahandja and Otjiwarongo when his vehicle left the road and crashed into a tree.
At the time, Endjala said he was trying to avoid a collision.
