City of Windhoek to host SME festival


THE City of Windhoek will on Friday host the first edition of the spring market to promote and celebrate local small and medium enterprises.

Leonora Joodt, the, small and medium enterprises (SME) development and promotion officer at the City of Windhoek yesterday said, “The upcoming spring market of the City of Windhoek, will take place this weekend to celebrate and promote the economic and artistic vibrancy of Windhoek and to allow entrepreneurs to transform the CBD into a bustling economic activity.”

According to the City of Windhoek, various enterprises and upcoming artists will have the opportunity to promote their unique, local products and services, network with peers and explore opportunities to innovate, grow and increase their value propositions.

The City of Windhoek plans to grow the event to make it a regular fixture on Windhoek’s social calendar to create effective platforms to showcase and support local industries and unique artistic and cultural identity.

“Approximately 105 vendors and exhibitors will participate in the first Windhoek market. These include 23 food vendors, 11 arts and crafts exhibitors, eight confectionery traders, eight non-alcoholic sellers, five fresh farm produce vendors, five second-hand item traders, and 42 mix-variety traders trading in for example cosmetics and hair products.

The event kicks off at 09h00 on Friday, 2 September, and closes at 22h30.
