Body of man retrieved from Fish River

A 47-YEAR-OLD man drowned in the Fish River, about 20km west of Tses in the //Kharas region on Sunday.

The man has been identified as Otto Geingob. His next of kin have been informed of his death.

Geingob reportedly went fishing in the river with his 15-year-old son.

//Kharas regional crime coordinator deputy commissioner Nicodemus Mbango said the police received a report on Sunday around 18h00 that an adult male had drowned.

Mbango said the deceased was reportedly using an inflated rubber tube to climb on while tying his fishing net around the rocks. The rubber tube reportedly started to deflate, leading to the deceased sinking into the water, he said.

The police sought help from police divers but were unable to find a body on Monday. Geingob’s body was found on Tuesday morning at around 09h40, said Mbango.

The remains were taken to the Keetmanshoop mortuary for an autopsy to be conducted, Mbango said.
