Blue Waters mourn ex-star – The Namibian

BLUE Waters Sports Club chairman Robert Shimoushili says the death of Jason Petrus yesterday was a great loss to the football community.

Petrus (45), starred for Blue Waters from 2003 to 2006 before moving to coastal rivals Eleven Arrows for two further seasons.

Regarded as one of the best ball playing midfielders of his generation, Petrus also featured in a handful of occasions for the Brave Warriors, scoring a memorable goal against Angola.

“On behalf of the Blue Waters Sports Club and on my own behalf, allow me express my sincere condolences and heartfelt sympathy to everybody in the ‘Up The Birds’ Blue Waters family. In particular Hendrik David and to whomever invested lots of personal resources in building Blue Waters FC over the years which produced the quality footballer Jason Khumalo Petrus,”

Shimoushili said in a statement.

“It really is sad news to the Blue Waters family, all Namibian football loving people can remember his beautiful free kick he scored while playing for the Brave Warriors versus Angola, which contributed to the shining of the Blue Waters name worldwide,” the club chairperson continued.

“He was indeed gifted with a unique left footer. Our legend has gone, nothing else we can say other than. May the soul of Jason rest in eternal peace. Go well Jason.”
