BIG Ben, a live performer, recording artist, and award-winning Afrobeat musician, is gearing up for his biggest live performance of the year, titled ‘Big Ben Live in Concert’.
The concert will take place on Saturday at Palm Tree Park in the capital.
Amorlamor Promotions, in collaboration with Events Solutions, is organising the event.
“Big Ben is preparing to deliver a good blend of older music he has overlooked in previous concerts, while administering a healthy dose of newer hits,” event organiser Amor Basson says.
He says Big Ben will perform live music, ranging from ‘Mberiyandja’ to ‘Give Me the Night,’ ‘Ongongo’, and ‘Numba Numba’.
The artist will be joined on stage by 4X4 Too Much Power, Falsie Boy and Slickartie.
“January and February are accused of being difficult months, but we hope to demonstrate that there are those who plan their finances well enough to be able to live normal lives during the so-called difficult months,” says Basson.
He says they chose this time of the year because there aren’t many competing events.
“It’s really that simple. In addition, someone has to host the official start of Namibia’s entertainment season in 2023, and we volunteer to host the ceremony.”
Big Ben has performed live across the country and in Europe, in addition to securing a prominent place in major musical events and festivals in Namibia.
His music has been described as having a uniquely Namibian sound. Big Ben has released over six albums to date, as well as one collection of previously unreleased songs.
He says one of his new year’s resolutions is to hold concerts at the coast and at a northern town, such as Ongwediva.
“This is due to numerous requests from both areas.
“In terms of releases, I have already finished a new project for the year, and a release date for this year has yet to be set.”
